Good Measure, Heavens Treasure. 1890s Doulton copy of a Bellarmine Jug with moulded image of Cardinal Bellarmine (or Bacchus as the case may be). Base mark: Doulton / Lambeth / England / 348. Wine Jug Handled Jug with pouring lip, silver band around lip. Salt glazed with Brown and Dark Green highlights. Quart approximately. 192 mm. 1890s
Near Mint. A tiny 3 x 1 mm chip off the brown band above the letter U in treasure, possibly from manufacture. There is a small manufacturing split to the nose of the face. Very few other marks to be seen. Silver band is tarnished. Beautiful colours and detail, very well made. Lovely rare jug. Grade: 9.4 Estimate: $550 - 650
