Rowlands / Late / Rowlands & Lewis / Ballarat / & / Melbourne // Evan Rowlands / Shield containing: Registered 6 Jan 1880 / Miner & Farmer over English type Coat of Arms / Trade Mark Aerated Water Corker Applied Blob top, dump shape. Deep swirled amber with yellow/orange tones. 10 oz. 162 mm. 1880s-1890s
Very Good. There are four small flakes/marks to the top of the lip. Largest is still less than 1 mm deep and is 4 x 2 mm, others are 2 x 1 mm, 2 x 1 mm and 1 x 1 mm. There are actually a couple of other marks near here that are really smaller than can be measured. The B of Ballarat has some flaking to the letter with an associated ding. There is a very shallow under base flake and a very shallow burst bubble as well. Beautiful crude swirls and hundreds if not thousands of bubbles through the glass. There is some slight wear to the high points of the lettering, some very light haze in spots and some minor wear around the base. A few light patches of dullness can be seen on the body. Brilliant example of a classic bottle. Grade: 7.7 Estimate: $2500 - 3000
