Tobacco Jar with Harvestware style relief decoration. Hunting dogs around shoulder. Images of a man drinking ale, a man smoking, A tree, a windmill and a man sleeping it off on some barrels! Lower section has a hunt scene. Base mark: Lion on crown / Royal Doulton / England / 6853. Lid has picture of Hunting dogs on it and comes with original brass locking mechanism. Near Mint. There is a shallow 4 x 5 mm chip on the very top of the rim. A little bit of wear on the underside of the base where the jar rests. The lid has a 2 x 1 mm flake off the top of the edge and a 2 x 2 mm flake off the bottom. Brass locking mechanism looks good but has been cleaned and has some fine scratches, also the bottom part of the thread no longer catches so it doesn't work for its original purpose. Lovely piece of Royal Doulton. Grade: 9.2 Estimate: $350 - 400
