Dixon & Mentiplay's // Patent // Jaundice Pills // Trade Mark / Cross with letters DMM (also looks like an A but that was not part of the trade mark application) / Registered. No glass makers mark. Medicine Cure Half ounce shear/burst lip square section pill bottle. Pale green aqua glass. James Dixon and William Mentiplay of Melbourne patented their formula for the cure of Black and Yellow Jaundice in 1882, registering the trade mark in the same year. 72mm. 1882-1890s
Very Good. Very crude bottle. On the "Jaundice Pills" embossed side there are a couple of extra pieces of glass stuck to the surface of the bottle as part of manufacture. Most of the surface is slightly dull but with few deeper marks. Inside has a little bit of light stain and dirt. Highly unusual Melbourne patent medicine that we have not seen before. Grade: 7.4 Estimate: $200 - 250
