Victory Manufacturing Cos / (Gladiator) / Cherry Tooth Paste. (Victoria). Pot Lid. Tooth Paste. Flat lid. Green print on white. 73 mm diameter. 1890s
Fair. (5.5). 10 x 2 mm flake to outer rim next to the O of Victory. A few spots of glaze wear to outer rim. Discoloured crazing and some other discolouration. Scratch or two to the face as well. Small hairline or two to the rim and a couple of discoloured hairline to the flange too. The face is good. The flange, however, is not so. 85 mm chunk of the flange has been roughly filled, this goes up to the bottom of the rim. 20 mm chipped area to bottom of flange, this is not deep. Some flange cracking in this area. The amateur repair has remnants of whatever was used covering a fair portion of the underside of this lid. This is actually better than it sounds, needs a good clean and then a proper flange repair, which should be straight forward for this one. No base on this one. Interestingly, we have sold a green print version once before, but it was different with the gladiator holding the sword straight up and some other differences to the trade mark.. Estimate: $500-750
