"Goldfields" Salad Oil. Large flat middle panels. Base: Jagged pontil scar. (Votava Collection). Goldfields. Salad Oil. Early Christmas Tree type with flat sides and wide flat panels around the middle. Crude string lip. Aqua. 6 oz. 215 mm. 1840s
Very Good. (7.8). Not to be confused with the usual "Christmas Tree" shape. A very large one of these was found at the City Road dig in Melbourne and we have heard of a mid size but this is the first small one we've come across. Has baby oil inside and this has gathered dust and also yellowed a bit. Annealing lines inside the neck. Light scuffs and scratches outside. Really crude early bottle. Rare variety. (Votava Collection). Estimate: $700-1000
