British Registration Diamond / (Rearing Horse) / Registered. Smooth base. (Black Horse Ale, Tooth & Co) Beer, Black Glass Applied top. Black. Squat Shape. 26 oz. 260 mm 1850s-1860s
Repaired (0). Top has been replaced and a capsule put over it to disguise the repair. The capsule is actually a beauty from the same era embossed J. G. Marzetti and Son London with a picture of a Kangaroo in the middle. These capsules and plain bottles were found side by side with black horses at the City Road dig in Melbourne in the 1990s. Rest of the bottle is a nice one with scuffs and wear and the usual marks. Nice piece of Australian eastern Goldfields history. Estimate: $200-300
