Sold for A$190

Little oil jar with looped handles. Chinese, Jar Chocolate glaze. Two looped handles. 60 mm 12th-14th century

Very Good (7). Looks like a few small flakes to the rim have been touched up, these don't look to have been large. One of the handles look a bit shinier, may have had some work? Little flake or two to base. Little glaze nick or two. Some information from the vendor: such jarlets are categorised as South East Asian Trade Ceramics, being made over long periods of time. The centre of production was South China, but they were also made in Vietnam and Thailand. The jarlets were exported in great numbers to the neighbouring areas, especially Indonesia and the Phillipines. Extant examples have mostly been excavated in those countries. The actual shape of jarlets varied over time. This particular one appears closest to those made in provincial kilns of South China from the 12-14th centuries (late Song dynasty to Yuan dynasty). Estimate: $100-150
