Lot 819: Five very unusual early corkscrews.

1. Very Good. Brass handle, T shaped cork screw. Some corrosion in places. 2. Very Good. Most unusual, this does have some English and Canadian patent registration details on it. In the state show, it can be used as a crown seal opener. However, the end pulls out of a sheaf to reveal a corkscrew, with the sheaf slotting through a hole to then become the handle! The shead has two splits at one end, which is as made, one side has parted a little. Some spotty corrosion. A bit of wear. Really interesting item. 3. Good. A large brass key - or is it? The shaft comes off to reveal a corkscrew! The key part at the end of the shaft is missing, you can see where it had been attached. Some minor corrosion to the screw. Some discolouration, little knocks and marks. A great looking item. 4. Very Good. A large shiny key - or is it? The shaft comes off to reveal a corkscrew as per the last lot, although the screw is a different shape on this one. This one still has the end of the key in place. A little discolouration. Some little knocks and marks. Another fabulous item! 5. Very Good. Small foldable corkscrew for the pocket - have you ever tried to cart around a corkscrew in your pocket that does not fold up - it can be somewhat problematic! This still folds nicely.
